Abstract:
|
An important part of Zen training in the Kwan Um Zen School is the taking of Ten Precepts. Taking these precepts makes one a Dharma Teacher in the sangha. To be approved as a Dharma Teacher, the individual (who has previously taken the Five Precepts and become a student in the School) must write a short essay on his or her motivations for practice. Jan Potemkin practices law in New York City. He is a member of the Chogye International Zen Center of New York. He became Dharma Teacher in August, 1989 and this is his essay |
